I have had journalistic experience in print, radio, television, press office and online environments.

Freelance broadcast journalist - Original 106 FM
June 2014 - Present

Working as part of the Original 106 FM news team as needed.

Duties include newsgathering, writing scripts, conducting interviews, compiling bulletins, live reading, audio editing, pre-recording audio content, scheduling news content.


Digital camera project producer - Sky News
September 2014

Assisted with the live broadcasting of the results of the 2014 Scottish referendum results on Sky News. Worked as a correspondent at the Aberdeenshire count, sending a live video stream and updates to the newsroom including the final result.



Internship - Impact Online
May 2014 - September 2014

Have worked as an intern with Impact Online, a media company specialising in PR and social media.

One key project I was involved with was the launch of Auction House Scotland's first Highlands and Islands property auction in August 2014.



Press Officer - The Big Beach Ball
May 2012 - May 2014

Press officer at all three The Big Beach Ball music festivals.

This has involved co-ordinating attending journalists with musical artists while also creating promotional videos and relevant articles.

September 2009 - April 2010 - The Locker Magazine
Founded and edited an online magazine for Portlethen Academy, The Locker.

April 2010
The Locker receives six nominations for the PPA Scottish School Awards 2010, and won Best Feature Article. The school's media studies class took over the running of the magazine after this as I would no longer be a pupil there.

June 2011 - June 2014 - The Cove Chronicle
I have been involved in covering a variety of local events for The Cove Chronicle, a free bimonthly magazine distributed to all homes in Cove Bay, Aberdeen. It has a circulation of over 10,000.

June - August 2012- The Aberdeen Music Show
I designed the layout of the ABZ website and was also the executive producer of the first series of The Aberdeen Music Show.

September 1, 2012 - The Braemar Gathering
I was given the opportunity to work in the press tent after being awarded RGU's Robert Smith Quaich.

January 28 - March 8, 2013 - The Evening Express
As part of RGU's placement system, I spent six weeks at The Evening Express. My time was spent newsgathering, writing copy, shadowing reporters and conducting vox pops. Examples of the work I produced during my time at the newspaper can be found here.
