Evening Express - Horsemeat scandal boost butches

Printed in the Evening Express, March 8, 2013.

I found the results of a survey by Quality Meat Scotland outlining some of the effects on butchers after the horsemeat "scandal." It also featured a statement from the chief executive of the Scottish Federation of Meat Trades Association.

In order to make the article more relevant for a local newspaper, I also spoke to an Aberdeen-based butcher.

Evening Express - Success on a plate

Printed in the Evening Express, March 11, 2013.

I found a press release with quotes from David Littlewood after being named chef of the year and wrote up a short story on his award.

Later in the day, fuller quotes and the winning menu were supplied by another journalist from the organisation who was at the event. These were added to the story.

Printed in the Evening Express, February 21, 2013.

The article was first drawn to my attention through a Facebook page detailing the architect's plans for the swimming pool.

I contacted him and conducted a phone interview.

Evening Express - Golf course damage

Printed on page 7 of the Evening Express, February 5, 2013.

The news editor had been supplied with several photographs of damage to a golf course in Aberdeen, and passed them to me to investigate.

Completing the article involved contacting several staff at Sport Aberdeen and the owner of the equestrian centre beside the course.
